miniGeek

As several of you should very well know, we have sites like MySpace and LiveJournal where we have groups that are associated with AJJE Games. But one down side is that you have to join the website to be involved.

Well, as a member of the internet community, I am offering you another option.

I recently finished making a few edits on a forum I created to make it a multi-group site, making room for anyone from SGU to go and hang out if they would like. An entire section just purely devoted to Stargate, though it is encouraged to also post in the other section and meet new people from the other group.

You do not need to create an account on the site to be able to read and create posts.

I really want to make that detail clear, as that is one thing you have to do on sites like MySpace. Obviously you need to if you want things like post signatures, but it isn't required for the basics.

The website is named miniGeek, and is at http://minigeek.geekaddict.net. (If you have any troubles getting to the website by copying and pasting the URL, please email me.)

I really hope some of you are interested and come check it out, as I hope this site expands to hold a lot more members than it currently does.

Ed Reeve becomes LOTW Member Support Director

Resolution #18

It is my pleasure to confirm Ed Reeve to the position of Member Support Director for the remainder of this term of office. He has been acting in the capacity of Member Support Director in the unfortunate absence of the elected Member Support Director, Kristen Weese, who has now been AWOL in excess of 30 days.

Kristen's bouyant and effervescent presence is missed among the administration staff, and we will of course continue to try to reach her, but I am supremely confident in Ed's capacity for assuming the MSD mantle in her absence.

Should Kristen return, Ed will nevertheless retain his position as Member Support Director, as per the Guiding Principles.

LOTW temporarily increases term lengths for Administration

Resolution #17

LOTW voted on a motion to extend the term of office for the next Administration from the traditional eight months to one year. According to the 'General Election Schedule - Ajje Games', the next Administration will be elected in June 2009, and elections would follow in February 2010. As ratified by this Resolution, however, the candidates elected in June 2009 will remain in office until the end of June 2010.

Candidates can, of course, be nominated to run for re-election in the June 2010 elections.

The change arising from this Resolution will be effective for only one Administration (June 2009-June 2010). If future Administrations wish to increase their length of term from eight months to one year, they will need to run a Resolution to that effect. This Resolution is to serve as a test for how suited a year-long administrative term is for Leaf on the Wind.

The motion passed by 42 votes in favour, 3 against, and 3 abstentions. 48 voters (42 'aye', 3 'nay', 3 'abstain') as a percentage of our total members (87 registered) is 55.17%.

This is a hugely satisfying increase on the 22.22% (20 of 90) turn out for the last voted Resolution, Resolution 16 of January 2009.

Clearly, the topic caught the attention of the LOTW membership, but the administration's targetted contact with COs has also most likely had an impact in encouraging players to participate, and I'm pleased to know so many people got involved.

Participation in voting is a great way for players to indicate their satisfaction with the club leadership.

New Team Leader of SGU-3

Appointment #46

All right, this has been a very hard decision for the MC to make, but frankly we're having a bit of a tug of war over this. Apparently, and we're not sure why, something has prevented Eddie from posting on SGU-3 for well over four months. We were aware of an illness that landed him in the hospital just before the holidays were over, but no one has seen or heard from him since.

This has us understandably worried. We've attempted to find him, but nothing has worked so far.

Unfortunately though, despite the question about Eddie's health, we must look at the health and well-being of SGU-3.

Since it's inception, SGU-3 has had more than it's share of problems. Already it has been through 6 commanders in a period of three years. From my previous experience, this a very bad because out of those 6, only one of them had actually been active and stuck around for a good while until she was promoted to Base Commander (kuddos to you Anna). Now, I mean no offense to those in the past that have attempted to be the Team Leader, it's just fate, luck, life..name it and we could probably fault it...hasn't been kind to SGU-3.

So, after discussing it for about a month and a half through our e-mails, SGU-3 is now officially on review. We're going to give the team one more chance for a total of 3 months to get running, moving and active. If by the time that review period is over it hasn't improved and managed to get out of the review area of the SSRs for one of those months, it's going to be closed down until such a time when the club as a whole has the numbers and man power to support a third SG team.

To lead the team during this review period will be Daniel Taylor. We're giving him this chance for a multitude of reasons. The first is that he's the current 2IC, the second is because he asked for the opportunity to save the team. That alone tells us that he's dedicated to it. While normally we would promote him to the full status of TL, because of the current circumstances, Daniel will be the aTL with the authority of a TL, able to weigh in on decisions for the MC and the team as a whole.

In addition, the CoA, Chris, will be monitoring and watching the posting on SGU-3 very actively, making his observations.

I want to stress that SGU-3 has 60 days to get going in the right direction. This can only happen if the current players are active and RPing. This isn't just about keeping out of AWOL, this about actually RPing. I know everyone knows how to do that so really get involved into all of it. Also, I'm calling on all members of SGU, if you have the time and the willingness to take on another character, help out Daniel and his team. Join SGU-3 permanently, stick with it. With that said though, don't just say you'll join for the 60 day extension, plan to be there for a long time.

Basically what I'm saying is that after the 60 days and it does get saved, then all of sudden just about everyone leaves, the four of us will be really, really upset, as I'm sure Daniel will be as well.

While we want the team to succeed, we want it to improve, I want to point out that we will not be lenient in our decision. This is the last and only chance the team has. Daniel and SGU-3, use it well.
