Appointment #67/Announcement #1
After much deliberation and thought, it is with a sad note that we members of Military Command announce the retraction of Appointment 66 (Michael Parks re-instatement to Commanding Officer level) and uphold the decision we have stated in Appointment #65. This also coincides with the closure of the SGA-2 sim.
This decision did not come about lightly. We at the Military Command had to discuss this issue at length. SGU's Guiding Principles charges us members of Military Command with the responsibility of the overall health of the clubs. At the same time, it protects Team Leaders/Commanding Officers from unwarranted removal by laying out the conditions for removal, namely the persistent violation of the sim's Absence WithOut Leave policies or an absence of thirty days.
SGU's Policy #1 expands upon the Guiding Principles with the creation of the review process and the conditions and timelines for reviews, again based upon the Absence WithOut Leave violations. In response to this, we put Michael Parks on a three-month review period, just like we did Daniel Taylor, who was the previous Commanding Officer of SGU-3. Out of those three months, two were in review, which would have added to our grounds for a demotion of command. As we believe in giving anyone a second chance to prove themselves that our decision in promoting Michael Parks wasn't misplaced, we at Military Command have decided to demote him and place him under a mentor instead.
The closure of SGA-2 did not come as immediate as it may sound. It was gradual. With its previous Team Leader/Commanding Officer Christopher Wilkinson informing us at Military Command of his relinquishing of command, we at Military Command thought to give the sim to Michael Parks to see if he can handle the reins of command. Thus, Appointment #66 was made. However, upon observing the mass exodus of SGA-2's members to another sim, we deemed it appropriate to close an otherwise unproductive sim and rescind Appointment #66.
