Tain Bo Cualinge renamed to Shadow

The Leaders of the Wave announce the approval of Topher's request to change the name of the Tain Bo Cuailnge to the Shadow. I have changed the name on the Area Homepage, and Topher has changed it on the sim MOTD page. We have requested Tech Services to change the name elsewhere within LOTW and beyond, as we do not have access to all locations where the name is listed.

This matter was brought to the Leaders' attention due to the potential historical significance of the name of the ship. It was one of the four original ships in LOTW, and one of two ships which have operated continuously since the beginning. I had the privilege of being her XO in early 2007 prior to being given my own command. The other original ship is the Rim Worlds ship, Raug'Moss.

However, in a split decision the Leaders felt that the CO's rights over control and operation of his/her own sim far outweighed the need to preserve the name of a ship which had a long history of poor performance. In the past, I have, on occasion, made requests of COs only to be told in no uncertain terms to "BUZZ OFF", as this was their sim and they'd run it their own way. I bowed to their will and honored the right of an active CO to exercise control over their own sims.

Thus the Leaders have voted to preserve and protect the rights and perogatives of LOTW's COs to have control over their sim environments.
